Will by Will Smith Summary
If you like biographies and the entertainment industry, I recommend reading, or listening to, Will by Will Smith. Will did the narration for the audiobook and he did an outstanding job. This is one of my favorite books that I've read in the last year. He shares his humanity and weaknesses as equally as his successes and strengths.
Covert Cows by Steve Robinson Summary
Covert Cows is a well-rounded book about marketing, sales, hospitality, brand building, and creating company culture. While it focuses on the food and beverage industry, most of the lessons can be applied to businesses in other categories.
8 Great Smarts Summary
This is a unique parenting book that I learned a lot from. It gave me a new mental model through which to view the abilities of children, and all people in general. Everyone is smart in different ways. This book does a good job of explaining this in a way that is easy to understand and apply to relationships. I highly recommend 8 Great Smarts for all parents.
The Motive by Patrick Lencioni Summary
Lencioni thrusts his listeners into a day-long conversation between rival CEOs. Shay Davis is the CEO of Golden Gate Alarm, who, after just a year in his role, is beginning to worry about his job and is desperate to figure out how to turn things around. With nowhere else to turn, Shay receives some hard-to-swallow advice from the most unlikely and unwanted source - Liam Alcott, CEO of a more successful security company and his most hated opponent. ©2020 Patrick M. The Psychology of Money by Morgan Housel Summary
I love the unique perspective this book has on personal finance and investing. The way Morgan approaches the subject from a psychological perspective instead of analytical is refreshing. This is one of the best books I have read this year and I have recommended it to several friends.
Effortless by Greg McKeown Summary
Life doesn't have to be as hard and complicated as we make it. That is the one lesson Greg wants you to take away from reading Effortless.
No Excuses by Brian Tracy Summary
This is one of my longest book summaries ever. No Excuses has some of the best advice on almost every major topic in business, personal development, and even family life. This is the type of book that I would want to read every couple of years to motivate me. It really challenges you to improve and strive for excellence in every aspect of life.
Nobu: A Memoir Book Summary
Nobu is my favorite restaurant, their customer service, and food quality is incredible. When I saw that Chef Nobu had published a memoir I was excited to read it. I did not plan on writing a summary before listening to the book. While listening I discovered so many insights and pearls of wisdom that I had to make a summary.
A Promised Land by Barack Obama Summary
In writing this memoir, Obama said that his first and foremost goal for the book is "...to provide an honest rendering of my time in office. To offer readers a glimpse at what it's like to be the president of the United States." I think he did a good job of giving a glimpse at what it was like to be the president. He included a variety of details small and big, from how his clothes were neatly pressed and folded every night by the staff, to the processes behind making strategic decisions about the economy, troop deployments, and many other critical areas.
